2. Preparation of design concepts for Mazda RX7 SP-24 Daytona, Ford Falcon and Laser, Audi A4, Mitsubishi Magna and VW Golf/SEAT.

3. Prepared for the Malaysian Government, a Design House proposal (automotive and general product design), including marketing options, business plan, budgeting and competition policies to promote Malaysian 2020 policy.

4. Prepared Group-A Touring Car graphics 1994 - 1996 (Allan Moffat Racing).

5. Prepared commercial sponsorship proposal for Group A Touring Car.

6. Retained by General Motors Australia to design Toyota/GM Joint Project Vehicle (minor facelift).

7. Partner in Homologated Options (HO) for:

The design of police utility vehicles for prisoner transfer based on the GM Holden VR Commodore using modular components and accessories for ease of reconfiguration and transfer between vehicles. (NSW and Victoria Police).

The design and project management of all aspects of the production of a supercharged V8 Allan Moffat-HO Special Vehicle, including engine and suspension specification, internal fittings and body components.

This vehicle sold in Australia and NZ and was considered by the motoring press as the best performing road going Falcon ever produced.
The design of body components for the Ford Capri Special Vehicle HO, Falcon Station Wagon HO and the Falcon Sedan HO.

8. Retained by Tickford Engineering to design body components for the Limousine market, sports sedans (Project Bathurst), and the utility off-road market.

9. Retained by Ford Motor Company to to produce show vehicles and "Indi" Pace Cars 1992, 1993 and 1994.

10. Proposal for a Vehicle Styling course submitted to the Chancellor of RMIT University. This course was approved and funded. Acted as Course Coordinator and Principal Lecturer, 1993 to 1996.

 

 
11. Contract Lecturer in Environment, Design and Construction Faculty at RMIT (1993 - 1996) at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in Product Design, Automotive Design and Decision by Design. Also lecture in Architecture and Engineering facilities. All students that have completed the Masters Course in Vehicle Design have gained jobs in the industry in Australia, Malaysia and Taiwan.

 
1989 - 1991 Nissan Australia - Executive Chief Designer

 

 

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this position carried total responsibility for the effectiveness of all Australian design and the operation of a department of 20 design personnel with an annual operating budget of around $1.5M.

This role encompassed inputs and initiatives to business, manufacturing and marketing sectors with the objective of improving product quality in Australia through the integration of Nissan Design Australia with Nissan Design Japan. Nissan Australia manufactured Skyline, Bluebird and Pulsar vehicles.

Notable Achievements:

Maxima Australia Project - generated concept feasibility working models. Produced a vehicle with redesigned front and rear-end sheet metal based on the 1987 V-6 Nissan Maxima. Additionally, developed a separate 4-cylinder prototype and completed design to feasibility using a working model. Variants of this 4-cylinder prototype included sports, station wagon and a 6-cylinder option.

  • Developed designs to modify Skyline GTR to ECE regulations.
  • Completed to feasability model, Bluebird facelifts for the Australian market (Pintara 1993, 1994 and 1995 models).
  • Produced SSS version of the Nissan Pulsar ("Wheels" Car of the Year Award 1990).

1989 KG Laser (medium car) facelift program completed.
1988/89 EB Falcon (large car) program completed.

Senior Designer

1978/79 XD Falcon race-car program. Developed 1/5th scale components for wind tunnel vehicle testing and developed final componentry for limited production Group C race car.

1978 KA Laser program. Developed the first 323 FWD hatch derivative vehicle, including the Asian marketing strategy for the Ford Motor Company.
